UIDAI maintains the Aadhaar data of more than one billion people in the country. Allegedly, hackers attacked their data base last June or July. However, it is not clear exactly what kind of information was stolen.
UIDAI has made it clear that it has no information about any such hacking. They have also been assured that their data base is completely secure. And the whole system is updated regularly. It is protected by a very high level of information security.
